An influencer is someone in your niche or industry with sway over your target audience. Influencers have specialized knowledge, authority or insight into a specific subject.
An influencer is like a celebrity and they wield a lot of influence that people ride on, especially when making purchasing decisions. The great thing about it is, proper use of social media and the online space can make anyone an influencer.
Becoming an influencer makes you a brand on your own, and makes you an authority on whatever subject you decide to put your influence on. But this does not just happen, there are certain things you can do that will take you to this status in your space, here are 5 of them;
1. Pick a niche
One thing you should do, probably the first thing you should do, is pick a niche. You cannot command influence on every single area or subject available, you just have to niche yourself down to the one you’re most passionate about. That way, your audience can know you specifically with that, and you won’t confuse them.
2. Create a Content Strategy:
Once you’ve picked your niche, you go ahead and create a content strategy. Come up with a strategy that will guide your content. You don’t need to make random posts all the time, but your content should be such that there is a definite goal you want to achieve with it, which is why you need a strategy.
3. Select Your Channels
Choose your channel. You can decide to be on all the social channels, if you can handle it, or you can choose the ones you’re most competent in, and where you know your target audience are, and work with that. Either way, choose a channel where you know you will always show up and where you can engage effectively with your audience.
4. Provide Value To The Conversation:
People are not just drawn to you, they are drawn to the value that you bring. By consistently bringing value, people will know that you are the go-to person when it comes to your niche and they can recommend you to people.
5. Stay Authentic and On-brand:
Don’t get caught trying to copy what other influencers are doing, remain authentic and be your own brand. Don’t talk about one thing this week and the next week you’re talking about something entirely different, people will not take you seriously. So remain authentic and true to yourself and to your brand.
